How to request Multi-Region data storage change?

Multi-region data storage allows your organisation to store and access data closer to your geographic location, improving performance and load times across the platform.

When setting up your workspace, you can choose a preferred storage region. This ensures your data is stored in the most optimal location for your team, particularly useful for organisations operating across multiple regions.

How It Works

  • Data is stored in a selected region (Sydney, Frankfurt, or Virginia)

  • Improves map loading and overall performance for users outside Australia

  • The selected region applies to all assets within your organisation

  • Region selection is initially set during onboarding (admin only)

Requesting a Region Change

If you need to update your organisation’s data region, this can be requested through the platform.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your Birdi workspace

  2. Navigate to Profile

  3. Go to Admin settings

  4. Select Request Region Change

  5. Submit your preferred region

Important Notes

  • Region changes must be approved and completed by the Birdi team

  • Existing data will be migrated to the new region

  • Migration time depends on the size and number of files (can take time for larger datasets)

  • Platform performance may be temporarily impacted during migration

When to Use Multi-Region Storage

  • Your team is primarily based outside Australia

  • You’re experiencing slower map loading speeds

  • You want to optimise performance for global teams
