Feature Explanation

The AI Detect tool allows you to quickly identify and tag objects in your imagery — whether captured by drones or ground-based cameras. Using advanced AI models, the tool creates annotations (bounding boxes) around detected items, helping you streamline inspection workflows, reduce manual effort, and turn raw imagery into actionable insights.

The tool supports:

  • Multiple entry points: Access AI Detect via the toolbar, media view button, or individual image inspector.

  • Detection methods:

    • Click-based detection: Select an object in your image to generate a bounding box and label it.

    • Text-based detection: Enter an object name (e.g., “bolt” or “vehicle”) to automatically search for and detect instances in the image, with adjustable confidence thresholds.

  • Tag management: Annotations can be edited, toggled, or deleted individually, or all at once using the eraser/delete-all functions.

  • Table view integration: A central table view provides a summary of all AI-detected and manually added annotations across images or folders, with links back to the source image for context.

Use Cases & Industries

The AI Detect tool has been tested across a wide range of industries and inspection scenarios:

  • Utilities & Power: Detecting bolts, insulators, and crossarms on poles for maintenance planning.

  • Construction & Infrastructure: Identifying vehicles, rubbish, and structural elements during site inspections.

  • Mining & Geology: Recognizing rocks and surface features.

  • Facilities & Rooftops: Detecting windows, HVAC systems, safety hooks, and other rooftop items.

  • Environmental Monitoring: Identifying trees, vegetation, and potential hazards.

Step-by-Step: How to Use AI Detect

  1. Open AI Detect

    • From the toolbar at the top of your workspace

    • From the media view (individual image)

    • From the Layers Toolbox on an image

  1. Choose Your Detection Method

    • Click-based detection: Click on objects in your image to add bounding boxes and labels.

    • To label the object either double click the text box or use the edit label icon on the right panel

    • Text-based detection: Type in the object name (e.g., “vehicle”) or choose from presets. Adjust the confidence threshold to refine results.

  1. Review and Edit Tags

    • Use the eraser tool to remove unwanted annotations.

    • Use “Delete All” if too many detections appear.

    • Add missing objects with manual click-based detection.

  1. View and Manage Tags

    • Badges on the map indicate the number of annotations.

    • Use the table view to see a summary of all detections across images or folders.

    • Click the file name or tag in the table to jump back to the original image for review or editing.

  1. Share and Export

    • Share images with annotations via map URLs or within your workspace.

    • Future updates will add PDF export and filtering options for reports.
