Overview

To ensure the accuracy of photogrammetric data, the following guidelines are advised

Airborne RTK

By using an RTK capable drone you have the availability to reduce the amount of GCPs you need to place on the ground. Whilst you should never remove all GCPs you can reduce the number to achieve the same results as a non-RTK capable drone.

Using an RTK capable drone will require the use of a GNSS base. We advise utilising a NTRIP (Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) via your phone’s cellular network.

There are free and paid subscriptions for this service, all depending on your project requirements. For example AUSCORS is a free service whereas Mondo Pin is a paid service.

NTRIP can be utilised using the custom RTK feature in your DJI drone or by checking the setup procedure of your preferred drone system.

Should you not have cellular coverage at your project location, then a GNSS base will have to be utilised instead. We advise the Emlid range of products, as linking the base is a very easy and cost effective approach for airborne RTK capture.
