How to become a drone pilot.
Becoming a Birdi drone pilot is easy. All you need to do is 1) sign-up to the platform and, 2) complete your profile that includes your experience, drone equipment and the required credentials.
Are you available for hire as a drone pilot?
During the sign up flow you should have selected you are a 'Drone pilot organisation' and yes to opting into 'I want to receive work opportunities'.
If you haven't selected these you can update your preferences from your account.
Select account on the right menu
Select the pilot tab
Select yes on the first question 'Are you available for hire as a drone pilot?'
Update your location, company details, experience and bio on this page.
Then you can move onto adding your credentials and equipment.
Your checklist guide to get verified as a pilot
As a pilot, you'll need to supply copies of the below credentials and ensure they are kept up-to-date in the platform.
ARN
RPA OA
RePL (Remote Pilots licence)
AROC
Valid Public Liability insurance certificate of $20 million
Photo ID (Driving licence and passport)
We cannot guarantee any work but if you fill out your profile including your experience, drone equipment and credentials, and if a suitable job from our clients near your location that matches your profile comes up, we will be in touch!
What happens after I have been verified?
After one of our team has verified your credentials you will be added to the network for potential jobs. When:
a job becomes available in your area (location based),
you match the required experience and
have the equipment required
you will receive an email with a contract for your review.
You can either accept or decline the contract at this point.
What type of equipment do I need?
If you have chosen to join Birdi’s drone pilot network, we'll require you to add a minimum of 1 x drone, camera and battery type.
