Welcome to the Birdi pilot network! This article will help you get started, verified and walk you through what to expect.

How to become a drone pilot.

Becoming a Birdi drone pilot is easy. All you need to do is 1) sign-up to the platform and, 2) complete your profile that includes your experience, drone equipment and the required credentials.

Are you available for hire as a drone pilot?

During the sign up flow you should have selected you are a 'Drone pilot organisation' and yes to opting into 'I want to receive work opportunities'.

If you haven't selected these you can update your preferences from your account.

  • Select account on the right menu

  • Select the pilot tab

  • Select yes on the first question 'Are you available for hire as a drone pilot?'

  • Update your location, company details, experience and bio on this page.

Then you can move onto adding your credentials and equipment.

Your checklist guide to get verified as a pilot

As a pilot, you'll need to supply copies of the below credentials and ensure they are kept up-to-date in the platform.

  • ARN

  • RPA OA

  • RePL (Remote Pilots licence)

  • AROC

  • Valid Public Liability insurance certificate of $20 million

  • Photo ID (Driving licence and passport)

We cannot guarantee any work but if you fill out your profile including your experience, drone equipment and credentials, and if a suitable job from our clients near your location that matches your profile comes up, we will be in touch!

What happens after I have been verified?

After one of our team has verified your credentials you will be added to the network for potential jobs. When:

  • a job becomes available in your area (location based),

  • you match the required experience and

  • have the equipment required

you will receive an email with a contract for your review.

You can either accept or decline the contract at this point.

What type of equipment do I need?

If you have chosen to join Birdi’s drone pilot network, we'll require you to add a minimum of 1 x drone, camera and battery type.
