How to Use “Add Data from Existing Map”

The Add Data from Existing Map feature allows you to bring layers, files, and content from one map into another — without needing to re-upload or reprocess anything.

This is ideal for comparing captures, reusing annotations, carrying forward reports, or building on previous work.

Where to Find It

  1. Open an existing map (for example, a recent capture).

  2. Click Add Data.

  3. Select Add from your workspace.

This opens the map import modal.

Browsing & Filtering Data

When the modal opens, it is automatically filtered by:

  • Your current workspace

  • Your user profile

You can adjust these filters at any time to:

  • Browse data from other workspaces

  • Select another user

  • Remove yourself as a filter

  • Search by:

    • Location

    • Map name

    • File name

Map Browser (Left Panel)

On the left-hand side, you’ll see a map browser with map tiles.

From here, you can:

  • Click on a map tile to view its contents

  • Open the map in a new tab to confirm it's the correct one before importing

Available Layer Types

All content is grouped by type to make browsing easier. You’ll see folders for:

  • Annotations

  • Media files

  • 360 images

  • Rasters(Orthophotos, DEMs, and processed outputs)

  • 3D(LAS point clouds and textured meshes)

  • 3D Tiles

  • Vectors (Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, DXF)

  • DEMs (Height-encoded value DEMs)

  • Volumetric layers

  • Videos

  • Other files (PDFs, Excel reports, and similar documents)

Selecting What to Import

You have two options:

Import Everything in a Folder

  • Tick the checkbox next to a folder to import all layers within that group.

Import Specific Layers

  • Expand a folder.

  • Select only the individual layers you need.

This gives you full control over what gets added to your current map.

What Happens After Import?

Once imported:

  • A default folder is created in your current map.

  • The folder name includes:

    • The originating map name

    • The original created date

  • Layers are automatically organised by type.

You can:

  • Rename folders

  • Reorganise layers

  • Move items into different folders

It’s flexible and easy to tidy up as needed.

Important Notes

Image History Is Preserved

If you import images from another map:

  • All tags

  • All comments

  • All notes

…will be retained.

We preserve the full historical data of each image. This allows you to:

  • Compare past and current captures

  • Maintain inspection history

  • Keep audit trails intact

When to Use This Feature

This feature is especially useful when you want to:

  • Compare site progress over time

  • Reuse annotations or vector overlays

  • Bring volumetric layers into a new capture

  • Consolidate reporting assets

  • Carry forward inspection data
