In some cases—such as with 360° photos, ground images, or video files—location data may be missing or stripped during upload or preprocessing. To help maintain spatial awareness and improve navigation across your maps, Birdi now allows users to manually edit or assign locations for these files via a new feature on the platform.
⚠️ Note: This feature does not apply to drone imagery, which must remain geo-referenced to support downstream processing and outputs.
Feature Overview
With the Edit Marker Location tool, you can now:
Add a new pin on the map for media that lacks geo-coordinates (e.g., 360 photos or ground-level images).
Edit the location of an existing pin to reflect a more accurate position.
Enable team members to find media more easily on the map interface.
How to Add or Edit an Image Location Pin
From the Layers Panel
Navigate to the Media Upload section in your Layers panel.
Right-click on a 360°, ground, or video file.
Click “Edit marker location” or “Add marker location” from the dropdown.
A pop-up titled “Editing or adding image location” will appear.
Click anywhere on the map to place a new location pin.
When you're satisfied, click “Save Location” to update the file’s location.
Limitations
Once saved, marker locations cannot currently be deleted. Please double-check accuracy before saving.
This feature does not work on drone-captured imagery. Drone files must remain geo-referenced through proper flight planning and export setup.
Best Practices
Use clear, distinguishable media names to help differentiate non-geo-tagged images in the Layers panel.
Only apply this feature to images that are part of ground-based or static scene documentation (e.g., inspections, progress capture).
Document any manual placements using the Comments tab in the file viewer for audit clarity.
