This article explains how to access the new 3D viewer. Currently, we are only able to host 3D point cloud models that have been processed by Birdi.

Understanding your 3D layers

Once you have opened the 3D viewer, you can toggle on the Textured Mesh and/or Point Cloud from the Layers panel

  • Textured Mesh, which will show in your Layers panel with the prefix ‘Moel’, needs to be on at all times for the 3D view to work - this offers a smoothed 3D Model, as below.

  • The Point Cloud can be switched on and off using the visibility toggle, and will overlay the textured mesh as below.

How to zoom and navigate in 3D view

  • Zoom: You can zoom in and out of your 3D model from any angle using your mouse to scroll, or your mousepad on a laptop.

  • Pan: To view your 3D model from different angles, hold your Shift key and use your mouse to click and drag until you get your desired angle or planar view.

  • You can click and drag your mouse from any angle to move to a different area, as you would in a normal view.

  • To move back to the birds eye view of your mode, click the Zoom to fit icon in the Layers panel.
